Pakistan Cricket Board is trying its best to tick all the boxes for the Babar Azam-led men’s cricket team in the upcoming ODI World Cup 2023. After discussing the security concerns for the team in India, now PCB is trying to get a psychologist on board with the squad for the upcoming marquee international tournament.

It is being done by PCB to help the players deal with the pressure of the tournament including a high-octane clash against the arch-rivals India.

“One of the primary reasons for considering a psychologist is the lack of experience most of the current players have in playing cricket in India. The unfamiliar playing conditions, the overwhelming media hype, and the sky-high public expectations are all factors that can add to the players' stress and anxiety. The PCB believes that having a sports psychologist on board will provide invaluable support to the players, helping them maintain their composure during critical moments and shielding them from any fears that might arise,” reads a report in Cricket Pakistan.

Although a lot of confusion over Pakistan’s participation standstill as the Pakistan Cricket Board is still demanding written assurance from the Indian Cricket Board and cricket’s governing body regarding the safety of Pakistan’s team during the tournament.

Speaking of Pakistan specifically, they will start their campaign against the Netherlands in their first match at the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium in Hyderabad on the 6th of October 2023.
