The third Test of the four-match Test series between India and Australia is being played at the Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore which started on Wednesday, March 1. Both teams made two changes in their squad. Mitchell Starc and Cameron Green replaced Pat Cummins and David Warner respectively. Steve Smith is leading the team in the third Test in absence of Cummins who returned to his home due to serious family health reasons.

Meanwhile, the Indian team took the much-anticipated decision to replace the out-of-form batter KL Rahul with Shubman Gill. Speedster Mohammed Shami was given rest for the third match and Umesh Yadav got the chance. Talking about the match, India won the toss and opted to bat first.

Rohit failed to continue his brilliant form

However, Indian opener and skipper Rohit Sharma survived a close call in the very first delivery of the innings as he was caught behind but the Australian team decided to not go for the review. But later it was shown on the big screen that there was a huge spike on the ultra edge.

However, the celebration didn’t last long for Rohit as he got stumped in the 6th over. Despite getting a couple of reprieves in the first over, the right-hander failed to make them count. The 36-year-old decided to put pressure on Matthew Kuhnemann as he danced down to bang the ball but was beaten by flighted delivery and wicketkeeper Alex Carey didn’t take too much time and removed the bails in a fraction of a second.

Rohit performed brilliantly in the first Test as he smashed a marvelous century when all other batters were struggling to make runs. He also became the first Indian captain to smash a hundred in all three formats of the game. Rohit led his team to win the first two matches of the series and now need just one win to seal their spot in the World Test Championship final in June. India are ahead in the series by 2-0.
