Shakib Al Hasan

Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has opted out of the Sri Lanka tour to participate in the IPL 2021. The Bangladesh Cricket Board granted him permission to miss the upcoming tour in April. The 33-year-old was bought by Kolkata Knight Riders for 3.2 crore. Earlier, Hasan was out of New Zealand's tour to attend the birth of his third child.

In the 2019 World Cup, Hasan ended as the only player with 600 plus runs and ten plus wickets. However, the Bangladeshi cricketer was banned by the ICC for failing to report advances from bookies. Earlier this year, he returned to cricket and impressed everyone with figures of 4 for 8 in his first One Day International match. The all-rounder also contributed with scores of 19, 43*, and 51 in the three games against the West Indies.

Shakib Al Hasan to be a part of KKR for the entire season

Bangladesh was scheduled to play a Test series against Sri Lanka, but it was postponed due to the coronavirus outbreak. Now the series is being planned to take place in April in order to keep up with the ICC's World Test Championship deadline. The 14th edition of the IPL is also likely to begin in April, which is why Shakib Al Hasan requested the BCB to grant him a leave.

This also indicates that Hasan is keen to perform his best for KKR and help them grab their third IPL title. The Bangladesh all-rounder was delighted to join KKR once again. He was also part of the franchise when they won IPL titles in 2012 and 2014. Additionally, with two ICC T20I world cups around the corner, players are slowly shifting their focus towards the T20 format. As far as Shakib is concerned, he might return to the team for the white ball series against Sri Lanka.

After the Tests, Sri Lanka will then travel to Bangladesh in May. They will play three One Day International matches as per the Future Tours Programme. Shakib is likely to be available for that series, depending on his fitness. The officials have not yet finalised the schedule for the Indian Premier League and the upcoming matches against Sri Lanka.
