Bangladesh announced their squad for the Asia Cup 2022  on Sunday. They are drawn in Group B alongside Afghanistan and Sri Lanka. The United Arab Emirates will host the Asia Cup 2022 this year and it will be played in the 20-over format. Meanwhile, the likes of UAE, Kuwait, Hong Kong, and Singapore will fight for the one remaining slot in Group A.

Ahead of the Asia Cup 2022, Bangladesh have now announced their squad. Shakib Al Hasan will lead the squad and big guns like Mushfiqur Rahim, Mehedi Hasan Miraz and Taskin Ahmed will also be a part of the squad. Bangladesh are coming into the Asia Cup 2022 after losing the ODI series against Zimbabwe 2-1.

The Asia Cup 2022 will also act as a preparatory series for the team ahead of the most important event of the year i.e., the 20-20 World Cup to be held in Australia later. Bangladesh, under the leadership of Shakib Al Hasan, will look to showcase their best performance and win the trophy. Having lost the ODI series against Zimbabwe, Bangladesh would be a bit short on confidence.

The Bangla tigers also lost the T20I series against Zimbabwe before the ODI series defeat. Tamim Iqbal failed to win the ODI series for Bangladesh. The Tigers will play a tri-series involving New Zealand and Pakistan right before the 20-20 World Cup.

Bangladesh had to sort out the sponsorship issue involving Shakib Al Hasan before naming the squad.
