Bangladesh vs India, 3rd ODI: 3 changes that India can make in the playing XI

On 10 December 2022, team India will take on Bangladesh in the final and third ODI of the ongoing series. However, Bangladesh have already sealed the series in favor of them by winning the first two matches. So, India will look to avoid a clean sweep while Bangladesh will look to thrash the Men in Blue once again.

However, after the second match, head coach, Rahul Dravid confirmed that Kuldeep Sen, Deepak Chahar, and Rohit Sharma will not play the last match due to their injuries. So, the team management is bound to make some changes in the playing XI. It can be a great opportunity for some players to showcase their worth to the management.    

Here are the top three changes that team India can make in the playing XI for the final ODI against Bangladesh:

The star batter and skipper of team India got injured while fielding during the second ODI in Mirpur. After the match, Rahul Dravid confirmed that Rohit Sharma will be not a part of the third ODI. Even, his participation in the upcoming Test series has become a mystery. So, the Indian team management can bring Ishan Kishan into the playing XI.

However, this young batter failed to show his form with the bat in the recently concluded T20I series in New Zealand. He managed only 46 runs in two matches. But, in Rohit’s absence, this can be a big opportunity for this batter. He can be a good option to have for India in the top order for the 2023 World Cup.

This left-handed opening batter has failed miserably in this ongoing tour. In two matches, Shikhar Dhawan scored only 15 runs. Even, in the ODI series in New Zealand, Dhawan scored 103 runs in three innings, including a fifty-plus score. So, team management might look to replace him with Rahul Tripathi.

Rahul is yet to make a debut for team India in any format. So, this ODI can be a great platform for him to kickstart his international career. In the recently concluded Vijay Hazare Trophy, he scored three consecutive hundreds for Maharashtra. He scored 524 runs in eight innings, at an average of 87.33, including three hundreds and two fifties.

In the second ODI in Mirpur, Deepak Chahar bowled just three overs. After that, he left the field due to a hamstring injury. So, Rahul Dravid also confirmed that this all-rounder is going to miss this third ODI. Therefore, the Indian Cricket Board might try Kuldeep Yadav, the Chinaman in the playing XI.

On 9 December 2022, the Board announced that Kuldeep has been added to the squad for the third match of the series. Fans were not happy after selectors did not select Kuldeep for this tour. Now, it can be a big opportunity for Kuldeep to show his worth. He last played for India in the home ODI series against the Proteas. In that series, he was the highest wicket-taker as Kuldeep Yadav took six wickets in three matches, at an economy of 5.
