The 2019/20 season close to an end and the big clubs are starting to design the squads for next season. In Barcelona, the season did not go as expected (although the outcome in the Champions League is not yet known) and the Blaugranas directors know that they will need to improve the squad to make the fans dream big again.
However, Barcelona's exercise depends on sales. The Blaugrana squad should lose some big names for the next season and the club will try to make the biggest possible profit. Get to know four Barça stars that could leave this season.
Philippe Coutinho
Market value: 60 million euros
The Brazilian midfielder is probably Barcelona's biggest asset in this transfer window. The attacking midfielder returns after the loan to Bayern and shouldn´t be an option for the next season, even having completed a positive season with Bavarians. Barça knows that cannot recover the 145 million they paid to Liverpool in 2018, but they also know that the midfielder has interested clubs among the Premier League giants. Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester United and even the new rich Newcastle are ready to pay around 60 million euros. In addition, Barcelona would also see a relief in their payroll, as the Brazilian charges close to 12 million euros a year.
Ousmane Dembele
Market value: 56 million euros
Dembele's spell at Barcelona has been marked by injuries. The Frenchman was seen in Catalonia as one of the most promising youngsters in football and it was this status that led the club to pay to Dortmund 138 million to sign him in 2017. However, the world champion counts 74 meetings in the last three seasons. The club does not seem willing to wait any longer and should look for a solution for the forward. The sale is the main objective. Barça would let the Frenchman exit for a proposal of around 56 million, saving also the 12 million/year salary.
Ivan Rakitic
Market value: 20 million euros
At 32, Rakitic is probably ending his golden cycle with FC Barcelona. The Croatian has been constantly pointed out as transferable in the last transfer periods, but has managed to hold on to the squad and even maintain his starting 11 spot. The new Barça could not fit with Rakitic, but the Croatian will not leave without the club receive at least 20 million euros. Sevilla, his former club, is the main candidate to receive Rakitic again. It remains to be seen whether they will be able to hold the big salary that Croatian currently receives at Barça (8 million/year).
Arturo Vidal
Market value: 11 million euros
Despite the positive season on a personal level so far, Arturo Vidal is far from being a typical Barcelona midfielder. Not because the Chilean is good. He is. But because his style of play is far from the Barça´s DNA. Vidal could be the first to leave Catalonia in this transfer window. His destination could be England or the United States. In his salary, Barça would save 9 million/year.
