A big claim has been made by Fabrizio Romano that Joao Cancello the former Manchester City star has signed the dotted line with Barcelona. He alleged that the Spanish Giants want to tap in and use the cash that they get from selling Ousmane Dembele to buy this former Manchester City star. He had a very bad time with Pep Guardiola and it looks like he would have to part ways with City.

City wants to get on terms with Barca to make the deal happen, but at the moment, Barca's financial condition is not very sound. The Catalans want to try and bring him on board. They want to use the money that they get from the sale of Dembele and make the move happen.

Reality is that he decided to leave - Pep Guardiola

He was out on loan to Bayern Munich for the last half of the season in 2022, The Bundesliga outfit did not want to sign him permanently and so they did not use the 70 Million Euros that they had. Xavi has requested the Catalans to link up a right-back this summer as he does not want to play either Sergi Roberto or Jules Kounde for that position. He talked about the fact that they wanted to get  Cancelo on board the Spanish Club during the time of the January window.

"We wanted João Cancelo at Barça in January, he was offered and we said yes. Man City discussed that internally and then told us they did NOT want to allow João to join Barca."Xavi said. It looked like Real Madrid and Arsenal wanted to get Cancello into the side but talks between the star and the club have not taken shape.

Guardiola has gone on record and said that Cancello cannot stay at City any longer. The manager wanted Cancello to not be part of the club at any cost and wants him to move out during the window in January. "I think they have informed him very badly. He is far from reality. The reality was that we decided that he had to leave. We didn't care where he was going, even if he wanted to go to United, which is our rival. There is his agent, and the clubs they agree. I won't say that they deceived him but that they misinformed him," Guardiola said.
