One of the biggest tournaments in the game of cricket, the ODI World Cup is just around the corner and Team India is gearing up well for it with an impressive run in the ongoing Asia Cup 2023. Five of the six Asian teams will participate in the premier 50-over tournament, which begins in India on October 5. After a thrilling win over Sri Lanka in the Super Fours, the Men in Blue advanced to the finals of the continental event and are now aiming for their eighth Asian Championship.

As India's final World Cup preparations progress, veteran players like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are also in top form. While Rohit continues to provide a brisk start and scored three consecutive half-centuries, Kohli, who did not get to bat against Nepal, hit a match-winning century against Pakistan in the Super Fours. With the crucial months ahead, India will want their key players to continue their form.

The Indian captain is currently the tournament's top scorer with 194 runs at an average of 64.67 and a strike rate of 108.99. The destructive opener recently joined the elite list of Indian players who have crossed 10,000 runs in the ODI format. An integral part of India over the years, Rohit was once the best at converting his scores into centuries and double centuries.

However, the man with three ODI double tons now lacks the ability to make it big even after getting off to a good start. Meanwhile, senior India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin believes that we can see another double-century from Rohit in the upcoming World Cup.

"I just get a feeling that we might see another double hundred in this World Cup. I feel there is a huge knock around the corner, especially in the World Cup. And I think we also have a game in Kolkata, which is his favourite hunting ground. Of course, it's a big call. But if it happens, it will look really good. It's always a treat to watch him out," Ashwin said on the latest episode of his YouTube show 'Naa Ready Dha Varava with KV Vignesh'.
