Perth Scorchers will take on Adelaide Strikers in match 9 of the Big Bash League 2021-22. The Scorchers got their season off with a six run win over Brisbane Heat. The Strikers, on the other hand, have played two games against Melbourne Renegades, winning one and losing one.
For scorchers, Matthew Kelly bowled an exceptional spell of 4-28 to set up the win. He was well-supported by Andrew Tye and Jason Behrendorff, who chipped in with two and one wicket receptively as Perth defended a par score of 157. Bowling has always been the stronger suit for Scorchers for the past five years. If the batters post decent runs, they will be hard to beat. Also, their record in Perth is staggering.
Meanwhile, Strikers' 49-run victory over Renegades was the result of some fine bowling. Wes Agar and Rashid Khan picked up three and two wickets respectively as Strikers bowled out Renegades for 100 in the chase of 149. The batting though will be a cause of concern as the players have not looked in the best of form. The batters need to come good if Strikers have to stop Perth's juggernaut at home.
Pitch Report
Perth is known to be the fastest track in Australia. However, of late, especially in this format, the wickets have been pretty flat. There is definitely something for the pacers to work with the new ball but the consistent bounce works to the advantage of the batters.
