Trevor Bayliss has been appointed as the coach of Sydney Thunder for the next three T20 Big Bash League seasons. The 58-year-old has led England to the ICC Cricket World Cup at Lord’s in 2019. He has also won the IPL twice while he was in charge of the Kolkata Knight Riders. Trevor Bayliss had also led the Sydney Thunder to the title in the maiden season of the BBL back in 2011-2012. The veteran reckoned that he is thrilled to be back coaching in Australian cricket for the first time after his stint with the Sydney Sixers.
Trevor Bayliss was a decent batsman for New South Wales, averaging 35.58 in first-class cricket and 29.90 in List-A cricket. However, he couldn’t make it to the national team.
Trevor Bayliss is the current head coach of Sunrisers Hyderabad
Bayliss is also the current head coach of the Sunrisers Hyderabad before the tournament was suspended amid the devastating coronavirus outbreak. The Sydney Thunder finished third last year as they lost their Knockout final against the Brisbane Heat in Canberra. Bayliss talked about the squad and stated that it has some inspiring young NSW players already on board for BBL. The Thunder has also declared the list for the forthcoming season of the Big Bash League. It includes a 19-year-old leg-spinner Tanveer Sangha, whose brilliant performance led his selection in Australia’s T20 squad that toured New Zealand in February.
Tanveer Sangha is also included in the squad for Australia’s upcoming limited-overs tours against the West Indies and Bangladesh. Aaron Finch-led Australia is all prepared to tour Bangladesh for a five-match T20I series in August. Australia will then tour the West Indies in July after the conclusion of the Bangladesh tour. The Aaron Finch-led team is scheduled to play five T20I games against the West Indies team. The forthcoming series is a build-up to the ICC T20 World Cup going to take place later this year. The two sides will also face each other in a three-ODI series on the tour.
Cricket Australia has announced a 23-member team for the forthcoming limited-overs series against West Indies. Aaron Finch-led Australia will face West Indies in 5 T20Is and 3 ODIs from July 9 to July 24. With the ICC T20 World Cup scheduled to occur in India later this year, Cricket Australia has named a full-strength squad for the white-ball series against West Indies.
