Amidst all the speculations regarding the new Test captain, BCCI have handed the reins of the Test team to Rohit Sharma, who is now the India skipper in all formats. Virat Kohli, former India skipper, stepped down as Test captain following a Test series loss to South Africa.

Rohit was likely to take over the leadership from Kohli as he was the Test vice-captain. However, a few reports suggested that BCCI want split captaincy thus may name KL Rahul as skipper. There were also murmurs about Rishabh Pant being named as Test captain. However, all the speculations have been put to rest now.
