The second phase of the Indian Premier League is set to start in the United Arab Emirates in September-October. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had to suspend the league midway on May 4 due to the rise in COVID-19 cases. Overall, 29 games were conducted in the 14th season of the Indian Premier League. The BCCI is looking forward to running a smooth tournament in the UAE. Just like 2020, the remaining IPL games will be spread across three venues. This includes Sharjah, Dubai, and Abu Dhabi.
BCCI is set to increase the salary purse from INR 85 crore to INR 90 crore
The IPL 2022 edition is set to see the amplification of the league, with two new franchises. However, many enigmas remain regarding which cities will come forward to form the two new IPL teams.
Four players can be retained by the franchises ahead of the mega auction. Either a team can retain three Indians and one overseas player or two local players and as many foreign cricketers.
The Indian cricket board is set to increase the salary purse from INR 85 crore to INR 90 crore. It is mandatory for all IPL franchises to spend at least 75% of the allotted amount. Franchises that will retain players must deduct specified sums from their salary before heading into the mega auction pool. The mega auction is set to be held in December this year. The two new IPL franchises are expected to be introduced by October.
