In the 42nd match of the Indian Premier League 2023, Mumbai Indians hosted Rajasthan Royals at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Five-time champions were thrashed by Young Yashasvi Jaiswal, who hammered a magnificent century in the 1000th game of the tournament. Jaiswal, in his innings, smashed 16 boundaries, which is the joint most in the ongoing season.
Earlier, after winning the toss, RR skipper Sanju Samson opted to bat first against Rohit Sharma-led Mumbai Indians. Batting first, RR got an amazing start as Jaiswal started hammering all the bowlers. He, along with Jos Buttler, added 72 runs for the first wicket. Buttler in his innings scored 18 runs off 19 balls with the help of two boundaries and a six.
After his dismissal, not a single RR batter stood with Jaiswal who single-handedly took his team to post a massive total. In his amazing innings, Jaiswal scored 124 runs off just 62 balls with the help of 16 boundaries and eight maximums. Jaiswal was dismissed by Arshad Khan in the very last over off a controversial delivery.
The ball was dipping while passing through the batter but made a touch around the waist height. Umpire gave the decision in favour of Rohit Sharma and co.and declared Jaiswal out.
Meanwhile, Arshad Khan shined with the bowl for MI as he clinched three wickets. Apart from him, ace spinner Piyush Chawla clinched two wickets too.
Yashasvi Jaiswal broke numerous records on-course to his hundred:
In his madness, Jaiswal hammered various records and broke some. He registered the highest individual score by an uncapped player in the history of the Indian Premier League. He also leveled the highest individual score for Rajasthan Royals in the history of IPL. He joined Jos Buttler with 124 runs to his name.
This is also RR's highest team total against the Mumbai Indians as they surpassed their previous record of 193/8. That came in the year 2022 at the DY Patil stadium in Navi Mumbai. Notably, this game is very much important for Mumbai Indians as they will look to make a comeback and get back on the winning track. They are currently ninth-placed and will be looking to improve on that.

If Meredith is still conceding 40-50 runs per match then MI should play Arjun or Warrior in place of him & give chance to Brevis or Stubbs.
