World Athletics Championship 2022 gold medalist, Anderson Peters has won the hearts of Indian fans with his sportsmanship. In a Tweet posted by the Grenadian, he wished for Neeraj Chopra's speedy recovery. For the unversed, Chopra has gotten injured and has been ruled out of the Commonwealth Games 2022.
“He (Neeraj Chopra) is not fit as he got injured in the finals of World Athletics Championships. He informed us about this,” Rajeev Mehta, IOA Secretary General, told ANI confirming the omission of India’s star athlete from CWG 2022.
Notably, the injury happened during the Athletics Championship final in which Peters won the gold and Chopra won silver. After the game, the 2021 Tokyo Olympics gold medalist revealed that he had discomfort in his thigh but hoped to participate in the upcoming showpiece event.
“I thought even the fourth throw could have gone farther. After that, I felt something on my thigh and could not do my best in the next two. I had strapping (on the thigh). I will know the status tomorrow morning because my body is still warm after the event. I hope there should not be any issue for the upcoming events, Commonwealth Games,” he had said post his historic win at the global event.
However, recently, he pulled out of the games in which he was meant to lock horns with Anderson. Meanwhile, the Grenadian champion has wished the best for his Indian counterpart. In the tweet he posted, he wrote "I’m so sorry to hear that my friend and rival @Neeraj_chopra1 will not be attempting to defend his commonwealth games title because of injury. I really hope you can recover quickly so that we can meet and continue completing an a high level for the sport of javelin."

Wishing both of y'all raise the quality of the sport like Federer/Nadal & Djokovic did to Tennis🙏🏼. Jan Železný's World Record will be under threat in the coming years for sure.
