In a recent interview, Ben Stokes acknowledged that not being able to participate in the Hundred would be frustrating for English Test cricketers.

Recently, a county game between Derbyshire and Essex got canceled after a player from Derbyshire tested positive for Covid-19. Following the recent development, England and Wales Cricket would most probably try to be on the safe side. They will want to keep their players safe ahead of the series against India in August.

Ben Stokes opined that the Hundred is a massive event for England and every player wants to participate in it. It would be frustrating for the players to not be able to play in the Hundred. A franchise competition like the Hundred is successful with the participation of big players. So, if Test players are not able to play in it because of the Covid-19 protocol then it would affect the tournament.

Ben Stokes is ready to play for the Northern Superchargers in the Hundred. The men's edition of the tournament would start from 22nd July.

Ben Stokes also commented on England’s impressive performance against Pakistan

In the ongoing three-match ODI series against Pakistan, the English team has secured a 2-0 lead. The main squad was ruled out at the last moment due to COVID-19 cases appearing inside the bio-bubble. The ECB had put together a make-shift side in two days for the series against Pakistan.

Ben Stokes was made the captain of the second-string team and he was confident that his side was capable of performing against Pakistan. But he was surprised by how easily they secured the lead against Pakistan.

The English team had secured an easy win against Pakistan in the first ODI with 169 balls to spare. In the second game, Pakistan ran them close but England still secured a 52 run victory. The final match of the series will be played today. Pakistan must try to perform better to avoid a whitewash in the series.
