'Best catch of season' - Twitter reacts as Rahul Tripathi goes airborne to send Shubman Gill packing

Gujarat is taking on Hyderabad in the 21st match of the Indian T20 League 2022. Hyderabad won the toss and decided to bat first. The in-form Shubman Gill opened the batting along with Matthew Wade for Gujarat. Gujarat needed a stable start to post a big score. However, a stunner from Rahul Tripathi dismantled their plans.

In the third over of the game, Bhuvneshwar Kumar bowled a delivery just outside the off-stump, which stayed a bit low. Gill drove the ball in the air towards extra-cover, where Rahul Tripathi was on guard. Tripathi went airborne, dived to his left and took a splendid catch.

Gill could manage just seven runs in nine balls before departing. Notably, he had many expectations in the match as came into the match on back of two consecutive half-centuries. In the match against Punjab, he missed his century by just four runs. He hit 11 fours and a six in the 59 balls he played. In the game against Delhi, he scored 84 runs in 46 balls, with four sixes and six fours in the match.

Meanwhile, Gujarat got off to a decent start against Hyderabad. They scored 51 runs in the powerplay and lost two wickets in the process. They set to target of 163 for Hyderabad to win, thanks to a half century by skipper Hardik Pandya.
