The Indian T20 mega auction was a huge success. While some teams will be happy with their squads, others will need to work to get things to work. Nevertheless, all teams made some impressive purchases. Here are the best purchases each team made.
Best buys for each team in mega auction
Deepak Chahar (Chennai)- Chennai clearly had an eye on him as they got him for a huge price of 14 crores. They now have a great player who can get wickets in the powerplay and also contribute with the bat down the order.
David Warner (Delhi)- Warner will now return to Delhi after 8 years. He has transformed a lot as a player, and he can have some great moments with this young Delhi team. It will be interesting to see him play under Rishabh Pant.
Jason Roy (Gujarat)- Jason Roy was purchased by Gujarat at a base price of 2 crores. This was a steal for them as he brings a good option at the top of the order. He is likely to open the batting along with Shubman Gill for the team.
Shreyas Iyer (Kolkata)- Kolkata had a great buy in Shreyas Iyer. While Iyer will also serve as the skipper of the side, his skills with the bat will bolster the side. Kolkata have struggled in the middle order in recent seasons and Iyer is one of the best options they can have in there.
Jason Holder (Lucknow)- Jason Holder is a genuine all-rounder but is very underrated. He can score good runs with the bat, and complete his four overs in every match. He also is a wicket-taker, which is always good.
Jofra Archer (Mumbai)- Even though Jofra Archer is not available to play this season, he was a great buy for Mumbai. They got him for just 8 crores as he would have gone for a lot more if he was available to play immediately.
Kagiso Rabada (Punjab)- Rabada was a hot buy in the auction as many teams wanted him in their side. Punjab will now have the liberty to make him the leader of the bowling unit and build the bowling lineup around him.
Trent Boult (Rajasthan)- The last two seasons have been great for the New Zealand bowler Trent Boult. He has been very effective in the powerplays and is getting the most results at the start. Rajasthan has made a good bowling lineup this year.
Faf du Plessis (Bangalore)- Bangalore has most likely found their next captain. Faf du Plessis is not just a good opener, but can also be a great leader. He too is an aggressive player like Virat Kohli and the two can complement each other well.
Marco Jansen (Hyderabad)- Hyderabad always goes after good quality fast bowlers. They targeted Marco Jansen in this auction and got their hands on him. The pacer has done well for South Africa and Hyderabad will have big expectations from him as well.
