Best XI of FIFA World Cup 2022

On 18 December 2022, the final of the FIFA World Cup took place in the Lusail Stadium when Argentina locked horns with France. It was a massive moment for both teams as Argentina were looking to win that title after a long gap of 36 years. On the other hand, France were looking to defend the title.

Fans witnessed a thrilling match that ended 3-3 after 120 minutes. Thus, the game went into a penalty shootout. Finally, Argentina won the shootout by 4-2 and won the FIFA World Cup 2022. Several players came up with some top-class performances throughout the tournament for their respective countries.

This goalkeeper of Argentina has made some reputation in the last few years with his consistent performances for his country and club. It was the first World Cup for Emiliano Martinez. But, he did not disappoint his fans as he came up with two heroic performances in two penalty shootouts. He ensured Argentina’s victory over the Dutch in the quarter-finals and over France in the final. Martinez also won the Golden Gloves award in this edition of the World Cup.   

Theo Hernandez, Left Back (France)

This left-back from France impressed everyone with his performance. His pace was instrumental to break into the opposition half with many attacking threats. It was the first World Cup for Theo Hernandez. He scored one goal against Morocco and came up with two assists in the tournament.

He also managed to score a goal against Morocco in the third-place playoff match. As per recent reports, top European clubs like Liverpool, Manchester City, and Real Madrid are already linked to the RB Leipzig defender for a club transfer.

This Moroccan defender also played brilliantly throughout this FIFA World Cup edition. It was the second World Cup for Roman Saiss as he represented his country in the 2018 World Cup also. In this edition, he has managed to score one goal without any single assist.

This Argentine superstar had a dream of winning the World Cup for his country. Finally, he fulfilled it by winning this edition. He won the Golden ball award also after winning that once in the 2014 World Cup. It was his fifth World Cup for Argentina. Messi scored seven goals and managed three assists in this edition.
