On 18 December 2022, the final of the FIFA World Cup took place in the Lusail Stadium when Argentina locked horns with France. It was a massive moment for both teams as Argentina were looking to win that title after a long gap of 36 years. On the other hand, France were looking to defend the title.

Fans witnessed a thrilling match that ended 3-3 after 120 minutes. Thus, the game went into a penalty shootout. Finally, Argentina won the shootout by 4-2 and won the FIFA World Cup 2022. Several players came up with some top-class performances throughout the tournament for their respective countries.

But, he did not disappoint his fans as he came up with two heroic performances in two penalty shootouts. He ensured Argentina’s victory over the Dutch in the quarter-finals and over France in the final. Martinez also won the Golden Gloves award in this edition of the World Cup.
