KL Rahul

Former Indian opener Gautam Gambhir has come up with a big statement about star Indian wicketkeeper-batter KL Rahul ahead of the three-match ODI series against Australia. Gambhir is mostly known for his blunt assessments and analyses while talking about teams and players, especially the Indian team.

Notably, KL Rahul made his comeback in Team India after a long wait due to the injury, he sustained during the Indian Premier League 2023 earlier this year. The Karnataka batter amazed everyone with his stunning comeback in the Asia Cup 2023 super-4 match against the arch-rivals Pakistan. He smashed a brilliant century and scored 111 runs to help India post a big total of 356 runs for the loss of just 2 wickets, after building an unbeaten 233-run partnership with Virat Kohli.

"KL Rahul provides you with that stability." - Gautam Gambhir

Coming back to Gambhir’s statement, he felt that KL might provide the stability that India is currently looking for.

“The most important thing is stability. You need a batter at No. 4 who can give you stability because you don't want to put the entire pressure on your top three. KL Rahul provides you with that stability. KL Rahul has the ability and the shots where he can change his batting tempo at any time. However, more important than that was that he scored a century in his first game against Pakistan after coming back from injury and he looked in a totally different rhythm after that,” said Gambhir to Star Sports.

“Whoever has played international cricket for a very long time will know that you need one inning and your entire rhythm, confidence and mindset change. The good thing was that he was told only five minutes before. If he had been told a day ago, he might have been thinking a lot and when you think too much, you go into a shell,” he added later.

Interestingly, just after his comeback, KL Rahul will be leading Team India in the first two matches of the three-match home ODI series against Australia.
