In an unfortunate piece of news, it is finally confirmed that Punjab will miss the services of the veteran wicketkeeper-batter Jonny Bairstow in the upcoming 2023 edition of the Indian T20 League. Bairstow was not frequently in action in international cricket due to the injury he sustained last year.

In the further line of events, the Punjab camp has also confirmed that star domestic top-order batter from Australia, Matthew Short. He will replace Bairstow in the top order of Punjab in the upcoming 16th edition of the Indian T20 League.
