Following the completion of the World Test Championship final on Tuesday, June 13, Indian cricketer Shubman Gill met Kevin de Bruyne (midfielder) as well as Erling Haaland (striker) of Manchester City. The 23-year-old chose to picture alongside the two footballers while wearing a cream-coloured fuzzy sweater. The elegant opening also expressed the club's gratitude for winning the FA Cup, Premier League, and UEFA Champions League this year.

On Sunday, June 11, City defeated Inter Milan 1-0 in the UCL finals. By collecting 89 points which included 28 victories in 38 games, they also won the premier league in 2022–23. ahead of Arsenal in second place. For those who are unaware, Gill saw Manchester City defeat Manchester United 2-1 in the FA Cup final earlier this month. Virat Kohli as well as Anushka Sharma also joined the cricketer from Punjab in the audience.

Shubman Gill fined for showing dissent towards umpire’s decisions

After the World Tennis Championship final, the cricket’s governing body recently penalised Shubman Gill 115% of the earnings. As a result of the public outcry over his dismissal during the second innings in the Ultimate Test, the right-handed batsman was assessed 15% match costs. Australia and Team India received fines for sluggish over-rates of 80% and 100%, respectively.

In an official statement regarding this incident from the cricket’s governing body, it read, “India’s Shubman Gill will also face a sanction for appearing to criticise the decision to give him out on the fourth day of the Test, breaching article 2.7, which relates to public criticism or inappropriate comment in relation to an incident occurring in an international match. The young opener has been fined 15 percent of his match fee.”

For the uninitiated, on Day 4, after losing to a contentious ruling, Gill released an image of his dismissal over Instagram as well as Twitter. Although Cameron Green, the gully fielder, was seen touching the ball, TV umpire Richard Kettleborough ruled it out. When there is inconclusive evidence, the decisions usually favour hitters. The next time Shubman Gill will likely be seen in action will be during his tour to the West Indies with Team India, which is set to begin in July.
