On 13 November 2022, the stage was set for the final of the ongoing 20-20 World Cup at the MCG. Pakistan locked horns with England at the final after winning their respective semi-finals. England defeated India by 10 wickets. On the other hand, the Men in Green defeated the Kiwis by seven wickets.

Both these teams managed to end at the second spot of their respective groups. Even, both of them have managed to win this 20-20 World Cup title for once in their history. So, it was an opportunity for both these teams to win this title for the second time in their history. Speaking of the match, Jos Buttler won the toss and asked Pakistan to bat first.

England defeated Pakistan by five wickets in the 20-20 World Cup final

For Pakistan, Mohammad Rizwan and skipper, Babar Azam came out to open. But, all batters failed to score big runs. They managed only 137 runs for eight wickets in 20 overs. Shan Masood was the highest scorer with 38 runs off 28 balls, including two fours and one six. For England, SamCurran took three wickets for 12 runs in his four overs. Along with him, Adil Rashid and Chris Jordan managed to take two wickets each. For England, skipper Jos Buttler and Alex Hales came out to open the innings.

However, they failed to replicate what they did against India in the semi-final. Pakistan bowlers managed to take some wickets. In the first six overs, England scored 49 runs for three wickets. Jos Buttler went to the dugout after scoring a quickfire 26 runs off 17 balls, including three fours and one six. Harry Brook also scored 20 runs off 23 balls, including one four. But, Ben Stokes was there in the middle for England. Meanwhile, Shaheen Afridi got injured while taking a catch. As a result, he failed to bowl his last two overs. But, England chased down the target in 19 overs. Thus, England defeated Pakistan by five wickets to win this year’s 20-20 World Cup. Ben Stokes remained not out on 52 runs off 49 balls, including five fours and one six.
