The 12th edition of the Big Bash League (BBL) kicked off on 13 December 2022. All eight teams, Adelaide Strikers, Brisbane Heat, Melbourne Renegades, Melbourne Stars, Perth Scorchers, Sydney Sixers, Sydney Thunder, and Hobart Hurricanes will fight for the title this year. Perth Scorchers will kick off this season as the defending champions.
Melbourne Stars took on Sydney Thunder in the opening game of this season in Canberra. However, franchises have signed many new players for this season along with the retained ones. So, there are some players who can produce firecrackers this time around for their respective teams.
Here are the top three players who can shine in the new season of the Big Bash League (BBL):
Cameron Green from Perth Scorchers
This star all-rounder from Australia has built some reputation in recent times with his all-round abilities. Before the 20-20 World Cup, in the T20I series in India, he was the highest run-scorer of the series with 118 runs in three matches, at an average of 39.33. But, the talking point was his strike rate. Cameron Green smashed all those runs at a staggering strike rate of 214.54.
In the last match of that series, he scored the fastest fifty against India (19 balls). Perth Scorchers signed this player ahead of this new season of the Big Bash League. With his both batting and bowling abilities, Green can become an internal part of this franchise in this new season.
Tim David from Hobart Hurricanes
This batter had a mediocre season in the last edition of the Big Bash League. For Hobart Hurricanes, Tim David scored 218 runs in 14 innings, at an average of 24.22. However, he was batting at a huge strike rate of 163.90. After that, he also represented Australia in the recently concluded 20-20 World Cup.
In that tournament, David scored just 26 runs in three matches. However, his six-hitting abilities made him one of the most explosive batters in the current time. Meanwhile, David played a big role when his team reached the final in the last season. But, they fall short of 27 runs while chasing 189 runs.
Luke Wood from Melbourne Stars
This star pacer can be a player to watch out for in this new season of the Big Bash League. Luke Wood had a great T20I series against the Men in Green in Pakistan. In that series, he managed to take three wickets in two matches. His space and accuracy impressed everyone as batters were facing troubles while facing Wood.
This player can help Melbourne Star to improve their overall performance this season. Last season, Melbourne Stars finished in the seventh spot with 24 points from 14 matches. Therefore, the inclusion of this player can help this franchise to perform well this time around.
