Sydney Thunder are set to cross swords with Melbourne Stars in the Big Bash League (BBL) on Sunday (December 12). The two teams squared off on Friday (December 10), with the Stars winning a thriller by four runs. Thunder will be keen to get one over the line this time when they play the Glenn Maxwell-led outfit in Sydney.
The Chris Green-led outfit were in control during much of the run-chase of 166 but the wicket of England wicketkeeper-batter Sam Billings turned the match in the Stars' favour. Much of Thunder’s success relies on the start Alex Hales provides at the top. He missed out against the Stars and score just 10 runs.
Meanwhile, it was necessary for Stars to win after the shellacking they received against the Sixers. Glenn Maxwell-led team performed much better in both aspects of the game to seal the deal. Nick Larkin's unbeaten 52 and Nathan Coulter-Nile's two wickets were the standout in the Stars' victory.
Pitch Report
The match will be played at Showground Stadium, which generally is quite helpful for the batters. The average first innings score on this ground is 140.
