Brisbane Heats are facing Adelaide Strikers in the Challengers match of the Big Bash League (BBL) 2023-24 at the Carrara Oval Ground in Queensland on Monday, January 22. On one hand, Brisbane Heat is coming off from a loss at the hands of finalists Sydney Sixers in the Qualifiers, whereas Adelaide Strikers defeated the Perth Scorchers convincingly by 50 runs.

Both teams are playing each other in the crucial challenger match and the winning team will become the 2nd finalists who will compete with the Sydney Sixers for the coveted trophy.

Josh Brown set the BBL on fire with a smashing ton

In the challenger match, Brisbane Heat elected to bat first winning the toss on a placid batting wicket. The Heat’s batters pounced on the opportunity especially opener Josh Brown who amassed 140 runs in just 57 deliveries to take the total score to 214 runs in the first innings. 

Brisbane Heat's opening batsman, Josh Brown, achieved the second-fastest century in the history of the Big Bash League (BBL) and set a new record for the most sixes in a single innings. His remarkable innings concluded at 140 runs off 56 balls, contributing to Heat's total of 200 for the loss of three wickets in 17 overs.

Brown reached his century milestone by smashing a massive six over mid-off, marking his ninth maximum of the innings. Mark Howard commented on this extraordinary hitting display, describing it as a rare sight in the Big Bash. Apart from Brown McSweeney was the only batter who was able to reach double digits score which shows how Brown single-handedly took Heat’s score to 214 runs.

The powerful performance by the Brisbane Heat batsman came close but fell short of breaking the BBL record for the fastest century, currently held by Craig Simmons with 39 balls. Despite this, Brown managed to hit 12 sixes which is the most by any batter in a single BBL innings.
