The Lucknow team has been on a hunt for Mark Wood's replacement. They tried their luck with Taskin Ahmed early on, but that deal was not successful. And now, it looks like they will be signing Andrew Tye as the replacement to Mark Wood.

Many reports have suggested that the former Purple Cap winner is almost confirmed as Wood's replacement. The team is yet to confirm the report but they have hinted the that a new player is set to join the franchise

The team's official Twitter handle posted a tweet teasing the new player. "Who will be the speedster filling Woody’s shoes?" said the tweet.

Meanwhile, the rumours of Zimbabwe's star player Blessing Muzarabani joining the team also surfaced a while ago. However, the reports never revealed if he was joining the team as a replacement or a net bowler. It has now been learnt that he may be joining the team as a net bowler and not as a member of the squad.

Meanwhile, Australian quick Andrew Tye has played 27 games in the Indian T20 league and has 40 wickets to his name at a strike rate of 15.4. He won the purple cap for Punjab in the 2018 season, scalping 24 wickets in 14 matches. He had an average of 18.66 in the season. However, he has not played a lot of ITL since then. If he is in the Lucknow team, he would want to create more opportunities for him.

The Lucknow team begins their campaign on the 28th of March against another debut team, Gujarat.
