In the second game of the Women's T20 League 2023, Delhi and Bangalore locked horns at the Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai. In the game, the Red Brigade won the toss and elected to bowl first. Bangalore skipper Smriti Mandhana said there's some grass on the wicket and they want to make use of the conditions first." On the other hand, Delhi skipper Meg Lanning said ย "It looks like pretty even coverage so I don't think it will change that much."

Meanwhile, the Blue Brigade made Bangalore pay for their decision to bowl first. The opening pair, Lanning and Shafali Varma put together 162 runs in just 14.3 overs. Both players scored a fifty each and looked like getting a hundred. However, in the 15th over, Heather Knight, who bowled for the first time since last year, took both wickets.

After a great start, the likes of Marizanne Kapp (39*) and Jemimah Rodrigues (22*) provided the finishing touches. They took the team to 223/2 at the end of the innings.

Bangalore had a good start but lost their way

In reply, the Smriti Mandhana-led side had a good start as the skipper and Sophie Devine put together 41 runs for 4.2 overs. The latter was caught at mid-off by Varma off Alice Capsey. This triggered a collapse for the team. Mandhana was caught down the leg side facing Capsey after scoring 35 off 23 balls. From 41/0, the team slumped to 96/7 with Tara Norris picking a maiden five-wicket haul in the history of the tournament.

Ellyse Perry scored 31 off 19, Heather Knight got 34 off 21 balls, and Meghan Schutt 30 not out. In the end, the team was restricted to 163/8, losing the game by 60 runs. This loss has dented their Net Run Rate (-3.000). Only Gujarat (-7.150) has a lower NRR than Bangalore.
