The senior Kiwi batsman is set to play his 75th and farewell Test after recovering from a back injury. Due to the injury, he had to miss the second Test against England last week.

The 35-year-old is New Zealand's most successful Test wicket-keeper. Overall, he has 257 dismissals, 249 catches, and 8 stumpings in his name. Furthermore, the Kiwi player has also taken ten catches as a fielder. The wicket-keeper batsman has played for New Zealand in 73 Tests. In those games, he has amassed 3773 runs at an average of 38.11. This also includes eight centuries and 19 fifties. His career-best score of 205 came against England in Mount Maunganui back in November 2019. BJ Watling has also featured in 28 ODIs and five T20Is for New Zealand.
BJ Watling is the ninth Test wicket-keeper to score a double century. He was also the first to do so against the England cricket team. NZC chief executive David White stated that BJ Watling would always be cherished for the immense spirit and determination that he brought to the sport.
