India, Pakistan will kick off their T20 World Cup campaign on October 24 in Dubai. Everyone knows that fans in India and Pakistan are emotionally attached to the game which makes the contest one of the most anticipated games. However, more than that, both teams will be keen to get their campaign off to a winning start.

Pakistan does not have a great record against India in World Cups and have lost all their games. The Men in Green, however, would like to end the losing streak in the upcoming World Cup. Pakistan have played a lot of cricket in UAE and are familiar with the conditions. More so, they have established themselves as of the top T20 teams.

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Ramiz Raja has revealed that an investor has told him that if Pakistan can beat India in the T20 World Cup, he is ready to invest in PCB. “One strong investor told me that a blank cheque is ready for the PCB if Pakistan beats India in the upcoming T20 World Cup,” he added.

Earlier, Raja had called for private funding of the PCB to make the board self-reliant. Raza said that depending on ICC for funds could hurt Pakistan in the long term. “PCB runs 50 per cent on the funding of ICC. 90 per cent of funding to ICC comes from India. I’m afraid that if India stopped funding ICC, then PCB might collapse because PCB gives zero per cent funding to ICC. I’m determined to make Pakistan cricket strong,” said Raja.

He also said that if Pakistan is financially stable, teams would be keen to visit and play Pakistan. Recently, New Zealand and England abandoned their Pakistan tour citing security issues. However, several experts said  they were able to pull out of the series because it was Pakistan and would have never done the same to India owing to greater financial benefits.

“If our cricket economy is strong, we won’t be used and then binned by teams like England and New Zealand,” he said. “Best cricket team and best cricket economy are two big challenges.”
