Since the 2008 Indian T20 League, Pakistan players haven't played in the league. In the inaugural edition of the league, the likes of Shoaib Akhtar, Mohammad Hafeez, Umar Gul, Mohammad Asif, Misbah-ul-Haq, etc played in the league. After the 26/11/2008 tragedy, the Indian government broke all the bilateral ties with their Pakistani counterparts. Subsequently, Pakistan players holding their national passports weren't allowed to play in the league and it has remained the same.
On the other hand, the broadcasters and coaches from Pakistani worked in the league and with the teams respectively. However, since the Pathankot attack in 2016, they were banned in India too. Meanwhile, Pakistan and Peshawar Zalmi skipper Babar Azam was asked by an interviewer from the Zalmi to choose one between Indian T20 League and the Big Bash League.
"BBL or ITL?" the interviewer asked. "BBL," responded Babar. "I think conditions there are fast and batters get help there. In terms of conditions, I think BBL is more interesting. In ITL, you get the same Asian conditions," he added.
