A fan recently asked Brad Hogg why Chris Lynn did not get a chance to play for Australia in the T20I series against India. To this, Hogg replied that Lynn hasn't delivered in the higher levels of the game. Hogg also stated that Lynn’s shoulder problem acts as an obstacle when he is fielding. Since fielding is such a crucial aspect in modern cricket, he was dropped from the squad for Brisbane Heat.

Chris Lynn is undoubtedly one of the best BBL batsmen of all time. In 75 innings, Lynn has amassed 2332 runs with a strike rate of 150.35. This statistic reveals that Lynn is the highest run-scorer in BBL history. He also has the record for the most number of sixes in BBL history: an astonishing 146. Chris Lynn has taken 3 wickets in his BBL career, with an average economy of 6.82. This is quite decent considering Lynn is not an all-rounder.

It is quite evident that a player with such a stellar BBL record should represent his country at the international level. Lynn has won MOTM awards 12 times. He was also the highest run-scorer in both the 2015-16 and 2019-20 seasons. He scored an impressive 378 runs in just matches in the 2015-16 season. In 2019-20, he scored 387 runs, playing just 14 matches in total.

Lynn has been in sublime form in the T20 format

Chris Lynn was also a part of IPL 2020. Displaying such heroics with the bat in BBL, everyone expected Lynn to replicate his form in the IPL. However, it was not to be. Even though MI managed to win their 5th IPL title, Lynn couldn’t get a single game under his belt.

After a forgettable season in the IPL, Lynn returned to Australia. He took part in the Queensland T20 Cup. In the tournament, Lynn blasted 3 hundreds in succession. As far as international cricket is concerned, Lynn has played 4 ODIS and 18 T20Is.

Lynn just hasn’t been able to deliver the same goods in the international format. In 16 T20I matches, Lynn only managed to put up 291 runs to his name. Surprisingly, he hasn’t scored a single 50 and his average of below 20 is not acceptable in the T20I format. Due to such poor performances, Lynn was eventually dropped from the team and hasn't been considered since 2018. It’ll be interesting to see how Lynn performs in the IPL next season, considering he gets a chance to play.
