Former Pakistan all-rounder Abdul Razzaq is known for his controversial comments on Indian cricket and Indian cricketers. Recently, he has come up with another controversial remark while he took a jibe at the senior Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah and compared the latter with Pakistan speedster Shaheen Shah Afridi.
Notably, Bumrah is not in action on the field with the national team of India for the last couple of months since he sustained just before the commencement of the Asia Cup 2022. Later on, he was also ruled out of the 20-20 World Cup 2022.
Coming back to Razzaq’s statement on Bumrah, he said that the Indian pace spearhead is nowhere in competition with Pakistan’s Shaheen Afridi.
"Shaheen Afridi is way better than Jasprit Bumrah. Bumrah is nowhere close to Shaheen's level,” said Razzaq to a local news channel in Pakistan.
Although it wasn’t the first time when Razzaq made such kind of statement on Jasprit Bumrah. Earlier in the past, he had termed Bumrah as a ‘baby bowler’ in comparison to the other pacers.
"I have played against great bowlers like Glenn McGrath and Wasim Akram, so Bumrah is a baby bowler in front of me and I could have easily dominated and attacked him."
Notably, Bumrah is also set to miss the first two Tests of the four-match Test series against Australia. The Indian management and NCA have decided to take this step for the pacer citing his recovery concerns and the time required to be fully available for the same.
Here’s a look at India’s squad for the first two Tests against Australia:
Rohit Sharma (Captain), KL Rahul (vice-captain), Shubman Gill, Cheteshwar Pujara, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, KS Bharat (wk), Ishan Kishan (wk), R. Ashwin, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Ravindra Jadeja, Mohammad Shami, Mohammed Siraj, Umesh Yadav, Jaydev Unadkat, Suryakumar Yadav.
