Bangalore and UP locked horns in the 8th match of the Women’s T20 League 2023 at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai. Bangalore skipper Smriti Mandhana won the toss and decided to bat first. They got an early blow in the form of skipper Mandhana herself only on the individual score of 4 runs off 6 balls.
Batting first, Bangalore managed to post a total of runs for the loss of wickets in the allotted 20 overs. While chasing the target, UP scored runs for the loss of no wickets and won the match by 10 wickets for the first time in the Women’s T20 League.

Speaking of the entire action of the match, the opening pair of Bangalore couldn’t go past the score of 29 runs as Rajeshwari Gayakwad claimed the wicket of Smriti Mandhana on the first ball of the fourth over. Later on, Sophie Devine scored a crucial knock of 36 runs off 24 balls with five boundaries and a six to her name.
Other than her, Ellyse Perry also contributed with the brilliant individual score of 52 runs off 39 balls with six boundaries and a six with the wood. On the back of her knock, Bangalore somehow managed to reach a total of 138 runs in 19.3 overs for the loss of all wickets.
Sophie Ecclestone scalped four wickets by conceding only 13 runs in her spell of 3.3 overs with excellent bowling. Other than her, star all-rounder Deepti Sharma also claimed three wickets conceding 26 runs in the spell of four overs.
While chasing the target, the opening pair of UP skipper Alyssa Healy and her mate, Devika Vaidya stitched an unbelievable opening partnership of 139 runs for the first wicket. Healy played a sensational knock of 96 runs off just 47 balls with 18 boundaries and a six on her credit alongside 36-run knock from Devika Vaidya.
Eventually, UP won the match by a massive margin of 10 wickets and registered their second win in the tournament. Skipper Alyssa Healy won the ‘player of the match award for her brilliant match-defining knock in favor of her team.
