"By no means, I'm supposed to put any blame on any people or any members of my team." - Stefanos Tsitsipas after defeat against Dominic Stricker
“By no means, I'm supposed to put any blame on any people or any members of my team. Everything on the court is under my control and under my talents, and the way I can play this sport is shown out on the court,” said Tsitsipas after his defeat against Stricker.
"If I am not able to deliver, then I am not supposed to be doing well. His serve was a big weapon that served him well. He is very loose on the serve. If he gets in the zone, he can hit some good serves. It has not happened to me before. Usually, I am much tougher mentally, and I have shown it by coming back...today was not the case. I was not able to bounce back after it,” he added later.
Speaking of Dominic Stricker, he has now advanced to the next round of the ongoing US Open 2023 after defeating Tsitsipas. The young Swiss star will now face the Frenchman Benjamin Bonzi, who advanced to the next round after defeating the home favourite Christopher Eubanks by 7-6 (8/6), 2-6, 6-2, 7-6(9/7).
Notably, it is one of the highest achievements for the 21-year-old Stricker in his short tennis career at the highest level of the game.
