Dark clouds are hovering over Ashes as there are reports of several England players pulling out of the series if their families are not allowed to accompany them on the tour. The Australian government has imposed strict COVID related protocols and have barred the entry of foreigners, without exceptions. However, Cricket Australia (CA) desperately want the series to go ahead and is ready to assure the England players that their families will be allowed to travel to Australia and the players will be free of COVID-19 restrictions.

The England players have been in stern bio-bubbles over the last year and a half and given the length of the tour, they want their families to be with them which contradicts the current COVID-19 protocols in Australia.

If the Ashes is postponed, CA will suffer huge financial losses thus the board is keen to go the distance to make the series happen. As per a report in ‘I’, CA is prepared to offer England a virtually bubble-free tour with certain restrictions. This includes, only socialising outside of their hotels in groups of three or four. The Ashes gets underway on December 8 in Brisbane.
