The biggest question by the Bangalore fans is who will be their next captain? While there were many speculations of who they will pick in the auction for this role, Bangalore has gone in the opposite direction. They left everyone puzzled by not going after the obvious choices. They still have not announced their captain.

Bangalore took to Twitter to create even more curiosity among the fans of the franchise. “The million-dollar question doing the rounds now. Who will be RCB’s next captain? Who do you think will be ideal to lead the Royal Challengers in #IPL2022, 12th Man Army?” they tweeted.

Here are possible captaincy options for Bangalore.

Faf du Plessis

One of the best buys for the Bangalore team this season was South African Faf du Plessis. They bagged him for just 7 crores at the auction. He does not just give them an attacking option at the top of the innings, but also a good captaincy prospect. He can gel up well with Virat Kohli- Bangalore’s star player. Faf also tries on helping the younger players. We have seen that in the past with Ruturaj Gaikwad when he played for Chennai. They were the opening pair for the team and got great partnerships throughout the season.

Dinesh Karthik

Dinesh Karthik is one of the only few Indian options available for Bangalore, not just for captaincy but also as a player. He took can be a good captain as he is very good with man-management. He last captained for Kolkata in the ITL 2022, where he gave away his captaincy mid-way to Eoin Morgan. Karthik also was the winning captain of Tamil Nadu in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2020.  He did well to guide his team to a victory, and if appointed as Bangalore’s captain, he can get them the results too.

Virat Kohli

The chances of this happening are very slim. Virat Kohli stepped down as the team’s captain after the last season to manage his workload. But, if the team is unable to convince other players to take on this responsibility, they can turn back to Virat. Many officials of the team have also said on record that if they do not get other options, they will request Virat to take back the role. Virat has never won the tournament, but this can change with the new team if he becomes the captain again. Also, Virat is not the India captain anymore.
