On 20 December, Pakistan hit a new low in their cricketing history when England whitewashed them at home in the three-match Test series. After a long gap of 17 years, England came to Pakistan to play a Test series. Still, the Men in Green failed to produce a good result on this historical occasion.

However, fans slammed both Babar Azam and the PCB Chairman, Ramiz Raja for such an embarrassing result. Speaking of Ramiz Raja, is the 36th Chairman of Pakistan Cricket. He started his term on September 2021 for a three-year term. But, on 21 December 2022, reports came out that Ramiz Raja has been sacked already from the post and Prime Minister Shehbaz Shariff has approved Najam Sethi’s appointment as the new PCB Chairman.

During Ramiz Raja’s tenure, Pakistan Cricket Team produced some great results, especially against their arch-rivals India. First, Pakistan defeated India for the first time in a World Cup game during the 20-20 World Cup 2021. Then, Pakistan again managed to defeat India in the Asia Cup 2022. However, the Men in Blue also defeated them twice in the Asia Cup and the 20-20 World Cup in 2022. Apart from these, big teams like Australia, England, and New Zealand came to Pakistan for tours. However, despite such successes, Pakistan failed to win any major titles. 

Even, the way he handled the relationship with the Indian Cricket Board regarding the Asia Cup 2023 and 50-over World Cup 2023, did not help him toward the fans. Now, regarding the sacking reports, Najam Sethi shared a tweet and wrote: “The cricket regime headed by Ramiz Raja @iramizraja is no more. The 2014 PCB constitution stands restored. The Management Committee will work tirelessly to revive first-class cricket. Thousands of cricketers will be employed again. The famine in cricket will come to an end.” But, some fans turned up and said that worse days are going to come in Pakistan Cricket with the appointment of Najam Sethi.
