On 23 December 2022, all franchises of the Indian T20 League participated in the mini-auction in Kochi. All teams were looking to add more quality players to their side to make a final string squad for the next season. However, in the second round only, Ben Stokes was one of the top names to look out for.

Ben Stokes’s base price was INR 2 Crores. As expected, many franchises like Rajasthan, Bangalore, Lucknow, Hyderabad, and Chennai got involved in a bidding war. Finally, Chennai bought him for a whopping amount of 16.25 Crores for the next season. Then, the Chennai franchise came up with a cheeky welcome tweet for the England star and that has now gone viral.

Here is the shared tweet:

Ben Stokes played a massive role in England’s 20-20 World Cup winning campaign in 2022

Speaking of the tweet, Chennai shared a pic of Ben Stokes and Ravindra Jadeja where the star all-rounder was seen on the floor along with Stokes after hitting him for a match-winning six. It was a cheeky welcome tweet and fans loved it, making it viral instantly. They shared the tweet with a captain: “Absolutely floored by that buy! #WhistlePodu #SuperAuction.”

Ben Stokes has shown great form with the bat for England in the recently concluded 20-20 World Cup. In the final against Pakistan, he scored 52* runs off 49 balls, including five fours and one six. Due to his game-finishing abilities with the bat, Ben Stokes can be a fantastic option for MS Dhoni.
