The El Classico of the IPL, Chennai Super Kings vs Mumbai Indians will be played on April 8 at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. The fans are looking forward to watching the two most successful teams in IPL history. However, ahead of the game, all-rounder Ben Stokes has sustained a heel injury. He might miss the El Classico. Even though nothing is confirmed, the team is likely to not take any chances.
Talking about Stokes, he hasn't been able to justify his 16.25 crore INR fees in the tournament so far. In the first two games, the left-hander has scored less than 20 runs. Now, with the heel injury, the England Test captain might not play the game against Mumbai Indians. This is a massive blow to the four-time winners as they are already struggling in the pace department.
Ben Stokes is enjoying himself in the Chennai Super Kings team: Mooen Ali
“He’s (Ben Stokes) really enjoying himself. CSK is the type of franchise where you come here and you do tend to enjoy yourself and really love playing for this franchise. He’s settled in really well. He’s a big part of the team with his experience,” Ali said.
“This is a game I really look forward to. These are the two most successful franchises and the fan-following is huge and this is one of the biggest games you can play as a cricketer outside of international cricket. In football’s point of view it is like Manchester United playing Liverpool. These are huge games,” Ali said.
“I think the only thing he is lacking is game time. He had a bad injury and is coming back after a long time. Unless you can bowl in a proper game which you need as a bowler, he will get better as the tournament goes on. He is a big bowler for us and when he gets it right he gets three or four wickets in the powerplay.”
