Team India are currently busy playing the ongoing two-match Test series against the Bangla Tigers in Bangladesh. After that, they will play a three-match T20I and ODI series respectively in January 2023. Meanwhile, the Indian Cricket Board are currently looking to appoint a new selection committee. Chetan Sharma led the previous selection panel for the Men in Blue.

But, as per recent reports, Chetan Sharma and his selection panel will select the team of the Men in Blue for this white-ball series. According to a close source in the Board, Rohit Sharma might find it tough to make a comeback in those series. Therefore, Hardik Pandya might get the chance to lead the team against the current Asia Cup champion.

“As far as KL Rahul is concerned, his T20I days seem to be numbered" - Close source to the Indian Cricket Board

As quoted by saying, the source said: “The old committee will probably select the Sri Lanka white ball squad.” He also confirmed that KL Rahul’s chances to play in T20Is has seemed to be numbered."

"As of now, it doesn't look like Rohit Sharma's finger will heal enough before the T20Is and in that case, Hardik will lead the side. As far as KL Rahul is concerned, his T20I days seem to be numbered,” the source added.

"Chetan and his committee are still watching domestic cricket. They watched the full Vijay Hazare Trophy and also the first two rounds of the Ranji Trophy. Debasish Mohanty was present at Eden Gardens to watch Bengal vs Himachal Pradesh. Basically, they got a two-month extension till December 25," the source concluded. Speaking of the selection committee, the Indian Cricket Board sacked the entire team on 18 November 2022. It has been found that the Board were not happy with the performance of the selectors. Team India had not performed well in recent tournaments like the Asia Cup, and the 20-20 World Cup. Board members also blamed the selectors for taking wrong decisions regarding players’ workload management.
