Pakistan cricket team veteran batter Mohammad Rizwan shared his thoughts on playing at the No. 5 spot in the ODI format and revealed that he is not happily playing at that position and wants to bat at the No. 4 spot. In the ongoing ODI series between New Zealand and Pakistan, Rizwan was sent to bat at the no. 5 position.
Despite batting down the order, the wicketkeeper-batter was able to score 96 runs in 2 ODI matches against the Blackcaps. Meanwhile, during a press conference, Rizwan revealed that he wants to bat higher up the order but he is also ready to sacrifice his batting position for the team and will follow the orders of the coach and the captain of the team.
"If you ask me honestly, I am not happy batting at number five , because I want to bat at number four. But it is not important that I get what I want. The captain and coach will do what they like. It is my own wish to bat at number four. But I have not complained to anyone. I have been sacrificing for the last 15 or 16 years and still not complaining. We are ready to do what the captain and coach ask us to do," Rizwan said.
Rashid Latif came backed Rizwan to play at no. 5 spot
Former Pakistan cricketer Rashid Latif has also suggested Pakistan cricket team management let Rizwan play at the no. 4 position as he backed the right-hander and tweeted a special post in support of Rizwan on Twitter and also gave a caption, which says,
"Best batter at No. 4 Mohammad Rizwan #PAKvNZ excellent batting back to back centuries by Fakhar and Mitchell, congratulations. Congratulations Team Pakistan," Latif wrote in a Twitter post.
In both of the NZ series games, Rizwan batted at position five and produced unbroken innings that helped the team win. Rizwan followed up his flawless 42-run effort from 34 balls in the previous game with scorching 54-run innings off 41 deliveries.
