Former Team India head coach Ravi Shastri has lauded South Africa's budding cricketer Keegan Petersen for making the bat do the talking outstandingly well in the just-concluded three-match home Test series against India. Petersen made a tremendous impact on the 22 yards on difficult batting tracks against a world-class Indian pace battery.
Keegan Petersen successfully anchored the Proteas run chase in the series-deciding third Test at Newlands, Cape Town thereby, denying the current top-ranked Test side a chance of conquering the 'Final Frontier' in the longest format.

Taking to the micro-blogging site, Ravi Shastri mentioned that Keegan Petersen is a 'great world player' in the making after which he went on to add that the youngster reminds him of his childhood hero Gundappa Vishwanath.

Keegan Petersen finished the three-match Test series with 276 runs including three half-centuries averaging 46. His highest individual score was 82 which he scored during a stiff run chase of 212 runs in the third Test on a wicket offering uneven bounce. Petersen was adjudged both the Player of the Match as well as the Player of the Series awards for his impactful batting performances.
After picking up his Player of the Series award, an elated Petersen described how tough the journey was for him to have come this far and finally make a mark at the highest level.
"It's been a long journey, I can't really tell the whole story right now. It's not been easy even coming into Tests; challenging wickets, changing conditions. I have had to deal with what has been in front of me. We've always had to tough it out against a high-quality bowling attack, high-quality team", the 28-year-old said during the post-match interview.
