On 6 November 2022, South Africa took on the Netherlands in Adelaide in the ongoing 20-20 World Cup. The Proteas were looking to win the game in order to get qualified for the semi-finals of the ongoing tournament. On the other hand, the Netherlands were looking to surprise by defeating South Africa.

Speaking about the match, Temba Bavuma won the toss and elected to bowl first. David Miller made a comeback into the playing XI after he missed the last match against Pakistan. For the Dutch, Stephan Myburgh and Max O’Dowd came out to open the innings. However, they had a good start after scoring 48 runs in the first six overs without losing any wickets. 

The Netherlands defeated South Africa by 13 runs in the 20-20 World Cup

Myburgh scored 37 runs off 30 balls, including seven fours. Along with him, Max also scored 29 runs off 31 balls, including one four and one six. Then, Tom Cooper also scored 35 runs off 19 balls, including two fours and two sixes. But, Colin Ackermann remained not out on 41 runs off 26 balls, including three fours and two sixes. Thus, the Dutch managed only 158 runs for four wickets in 20 overs. For the Proteas, Keshav Maharaj took two wickets for 27 runs in his four overs.

For South Africa, Quinton de Kock and Temba Bavuma came out to open the innings. But, the Netherlands bowlers were on a roll as they took four wickets for 90 runs in 12.3 overs. Then, other batters tried to contribute. But, no one managed a big score as the Proteas managed only 145 runs for eight wickets in 20 overs. Thus, the Netherlands defeated the mighty Proteas by 13 runs in the 20-20 World Cup. For the Dutch, Brandon Glover took three wickets for nine wickets in two overs. With such a loss, South Africa almost confirmed their exit from the ongoing World Cup. So, fans came up and shared their views after seeing another upset in this World Cup.
