Head coach Chris Silverwood will skip England's home ODI games against Sri Lanka and Pakistan from June to mid-July. He will pass on the reins to assistants Graham Thorpe and Paul Collingwood.

England is going to have a busy home campaign this year. This includes T20s against Sri Lanka and Pakistan. In addition, England will play two tests against New Zealand and five against India ahead of this year's T20 World Cup in India and the 2021/22 Ashes tour of Australia. Chris Silverwood had been present with the team during Sri Lanka and India tours at the start of the year. Thus, he believes that the rotation policy that ECB is adopting with their players also applies to the coaching staff.

New Zealand tour of England kickstarts on May 25 with a practice match

Meanwhile, Ashley Giles also mentioned that England players have returned from India and are serving a mandatory quarantine period. The players will not be rushed into international action, considering the workload management of their centrally-contracted players. Giles also pointed out that there might be new faces for the forthcoming 2-Test series against New Zealand. Following the suspension of the 14th IPL season, Jos Buttler, Sam Curran, Chris Woakes, Jonny Bairstow, and Moeen Ali are currently serving their 10-day isolation period in government-approved hotels.

After the IPL's recent suspension because of the worsening Covid-19 crisis in the country, the players' mandatory 10-day isolation period is soon coming to an end. As a result, all the English players who were involved in the IPL will commence their practice sessions as they are left with 14 days for the first Test against New Zealand at Lord's. The New Zealand tour of England kickstarts on May 25 with a practice match. It will then be followed by two Tests at the Lord's and Edgbaston. England's star players Ben Stokes and Jofra Archer will also make a comeback in the squad. On the other hand, Ollie Robinson and Craig Overton can also be in contention after impressing in the early rounds of the County Championship.
