The three-match Test series between England and Pakistan kicked off on 1 December 2022. England came to Pakistan after a long gap of 17 years. So, it was a huge moment for the Men in Green and their fans to host Ben Stokes and his men in the longest format of the game at their home. Before the series, Ben Stokes came up with a huge announcement.
He said: "It is great to be in Pakistan for the first time for this historic series. To be back here after 17 years as a Test side is very exciting. There is a sense of responsibility amongst the playing and support group and to be there is special. The floods that devastated Pakistan earlier this year were very sad to see and have had a significant impact on the country and the people. The game has given me a lot in my life and I feel it's only right to give something back that goes far beyond cricket. I will be donating my match fees from this Test series to the Pakistan flood appeal."
England won the third Test to complete the clean sweep over Pakistan in the Test series
Ben Stokes and his men managed to defeat the Men in Green convincingly in the first two matches. They defeated Pakistan by 74 runs in the first match in Rawalpindi and 26 runs in the second match in Multan. So, they already sealed the series before coming to Karachi to play the last match. However, Pakistan were under the radar as they were looking to avoid a whitewash at home.
Speaking of the last match, Pakistan won the toss and opted to bat first. In their first innings, they got bundled out for 304 runs in 79 overs. Then, in England’s first innings, they scored 354 runs and took a 50-run lead. In reply, Pakistan managed only 216 runs in 74.5 overs and set a 167-run target for the visitors. Finally, on day four, England chased down the target with ease in 28.1 overs and won that match by eight wickets. With this win, they completed a whitewash over Pakistan in this series.
Here is how fans have reacted to the Test series loss of Pakistan at home against England:

Unfortunately our main bowlers weren't available in this series but the batsmen also didn't bat responsibly which led to the defeat. #PakvsEng

Pakistan team needs to understand that Babar Azam alone cannot carry the burden of entire squad. This team will ruin a great player like Babar Azam by putting too much pressure on him.#PAKvsENG#CricketTwitter
