Sri Lanka and India

Team India will tour Sri Lanka in July, and both teams will face each other in 3 ODIs and 5 T20Is. All these matches are going to take place at the iconic R Premadasa Stadium. Thus, the COVID-19 situation in the island nation is under control. Sri Lanka Cricket Board is also cautious by involving no traveling for the teams during the series and keeping them securely inside a bio-bubble. BCCI president Sourav Ganguly recently stated that the Indian team for the Sri Lanka tour would have none of the players selected for the England Tests. He further added that it would be a completely different team comprising of white-ball specialists. The Indian cricket board has already begun the preparations. They have kept in mind the white-ball regulars for the forthcoming series in Sri Lanka.

Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has proposed a schedule to the BCCI. The plan includes both teams locking horns in three ODIs first, and the T20I matches then follow it. The three One Day Internationals will be played on July 13, 16, 19, and then the T20I series running from July 22-27.

Team India to serve a week-long quarantine in Sri Lanka, which will be split into two sets

According to the schedule, India's squad will be reaching Sri Lanka on July 5 and head back home on July 28. After arriving in Sri Lanka, the entire Indian contingent will have to serve out a week-long quarantine. The quarantine period will be split into two sets. The first set of quarantine will comprise three days of rigid quarantine inside their rooms. It will then be followed by four days where the squad can train. However, their movement will be strictly restricted to just the hotel and the ground.

With mainstay players out of the playing XI, the Indian cricket board could hand debuts to budding IPL stars Devdutt Padikkal, Varun Chakravarthy, and Rahul Tewatia. Shreyas Iyer could also be a part of the team if he gets fit to play by then. In addition, young opening batsman Prithvi Shaw's international career could get a boost with this white ball tournament. On the other hand, Virat Kohli and the team will commence their preparation for the upcoming World Test Championship final against New Zealand in the UK on May 25. The entire team will enter the bio-bubble created for them from India itself. The 8-day bio bubble will be followed by another 10-day mandatory quarantine in the UK before India take on the Kiwis in Southampton.
