MS Dhoni set to retire after the Indian T20 League 2023: Reports

Meanwhile, last month, it was reported that the former India skipper might retire from the league after the 16th season. He retired from international cricket in August 2020. Since then, the three-time World Championship-winning skipper has only turned up for the Yellow brigade. In the last three seasons, the team has finished second last twice and won a title in 2021.

Meanwhile, a franchise official has said that Dhoni will play for the last time in Chennai. However, the former added that Dhoni is yet to inform his decision to the team management.

“We believe it will be his last as he wants to say goodbye at his favourite stadium. In any case, we should have clarity by the start of IPL,” a franchise official told InsideSport.

“MS hasn’t informed us about his decision. And of course, there is no pressure on him to take a call anytime soon. He is our leader and he will only do what’s best for the team. As far as the management is concerned, MS has full backing on whether he wants to continue beyond this season,” the Chennai official added
