Commonwealth Games 2022: India's Schedule on Day 8, 5th August

After securing five medals on Day 6 of the ongoing Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, the Indian contingent continued the good work on Day 7. Boxer Amit Panghal assured India of at least a bronze medal after securing a win over Scotland's Lennon Mulligan in the men's flyweight quarter-final. Three more Indian boxers will also be seen in action in the quarter-finals. All of them will be assured of medal victory if they enter the semi-finals.

The Indian contingent has so far won 18 medals in the ongoing Commonwealth Games, including five gold and are ranked seventh on the medals tally. India finished on the third spot in the last edition of the Games in Gold Coast, Australia in 2018. India’s best ever performance came in the Commonwealth Games 2010 as the hosts of the event where they finished on the second spot.
