After signing a three-year contract with the forthcoming U.S. Major League Cricket T20, Corey Anderson has quit the New Zealand team with immediate effect. The all-rounder has announced the development recently as he expressed his gratitude to New Zealand Cricket (NZC) for their support.

Corey Anderson has ended his association with the New Zealand cricket team, after playing 93 games across formats for the team. His best moment with the Black Caps came in 2014. During that time, he achieved the feat of the fastest ODI century in just 36 deliveries against the West Indies. A year later, AB de Villiers smashed his record with 31 deliveries against the West Indies again.

Soon the Mumbai Indians rewarded Corey Anderson with his maiden IPL contract, and he became an immediate hit among the fans. Even though he didn't create magic in the tournament, his unbeaten score of 95 off 44 deliveries in a do-or-die match, earned him a special place in the team. He was an important part of the 2015 New Zealand World Cup as well, where the team finished as runners-up.

Corey Anderson proud to have represented New Zealand

As he announced his move to USA cricket, Corey Anderson stated that it was a wonderful honor and incredibly proud to represent New Zealand. He further added that he would have loved to play more for New Zealand. However, sometimes life presents different opportunities and sends a person in a direction beyond his imagination.

His career offered him so much at the beginning, but a string of injuries dampened Anderson’s career. Because of his frequent problems with injury, Corey Anderson never managed to play at a stretch for New Zealand. His last appeared for the Black Caps in November 2018.

Corey Anderson mentioned that it was not an easy one, talking further about his decision. He also disclosed how his fiancée helped him decide to move to the USA for the final part of his cricket career.
