Australia is all set to host the upcoming T20 World Cup in October and November later this year. The teams are gearing up for the mega event as it commences in under three weeks. With all teams having announced their squads, opinions on playing combinations have started flowing.
The Apex governing board of Cricket has now revealed the prize money for the mega event. The title winners will take home whopping prize money of $US 1.6 million. The losing semi-finalists in the 16-team tournament will each receive $400,000 from the $5.6 million total prize pool.
The eight teams that get knocked out of the Super 12 stage will each receive $70,000 in prize money. A win in each of the 30 games in the Super 12 phase will be worth $40,000, as it was last year at the T20 World Cup 2021. Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, England, India, New Zealand, Pakistan and South Africa are the eight teams that have qualified for the super 12 stages at the month-long event.
The remaining eight teams - Namibia, Sri Lanka, the Netherlands, and the UAE in Group A, and West Indies, Scotland, Ireland, and Zimbabwe in Group B - will play the first round in two groups of four.
